
Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh All Hajveri Ali Hajveri was a famous Persian Sufi Saint. Because of this early stay in Hajver he came to be known as Hajveri. He is commonly known among the people as Data Ganj Bakhsh. He was given a good education in different branches of learning. During his early life, he travelled extensively in the Muslim world.
He visited Iran, Iran, Egypt, Syria and Hijaz and met several Sufi Saints. In 1039 A.D., he arrived in Lahore and started preaching. His exemplary life and impressive speeches brought a large number of non-Muslims into the fold of Islam. He strictly followed the principles of Islam and purified Sufism from un-Islamic trends. Ali Halved was the author of a number of books.
His most outstanding and popular book is Kashf-al-Mahjub. It is recognized as the first book on Sufism written in Persian. It has been translated into several languages including English and Urdu. He died in Lahore and is buried there.
