Simplicity and Truthfulness : The Holy Quran, says that a true believer must be truthful. The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam also told the Muslims to speak the truth. He said to them, “When you speak, speak the truth.” He said that a truthful person is the best among men and proved by his own example that he was the most truthful man. The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam told the Muslims to speak the truth even if it harms their own relatives. He told them not to fear people while speaking the truth. He forbade them from telling lies, even as a joke. The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said: “A Muslim can be a coward or a miser but he cannot be a liar.” “One of the signs of a hypocrite is that when he talks, he tells lies.” An honest man not only speaks the truth but also shows by his actions and deeds what he believes to be true. Telling the truth is a very good habit. If a person speaks the truth, he saves himself from a lot of trouble. A truthful person wins the confidence of people around him and is respected by everyone. On the other hand, a person who tells lies is not liked by the society. A person who always speaks the truth is a good Muslim. Allah loves him and is pleased with him: The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam” said that a truthful person is rewarded with Heaven by Allah.
Simplicity
A Muslim should adopt simplicity in his way of living. Islam emphasises simplicity in life, The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam‘s life is an example of simplicity in every aspect of life. He wore simple clothes and did not like display or show of wealth. He taught his companions through his example how to lead a simple life. The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam lived simply in Makkah as well as in Madinah. Even when he became the head of state in Madinah, he continued his modest life style. The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam” wanted his family and his companions to lead a life of purity and restraint. His wife, Hazrat Ayesha razi allah tala anhu said that when he died, there was nothing to eat in the house except some barley.
