Stealing

Stealing Backbiting Slander : It is a very bad habit to talk other people’s things without permission or to keep things things that others have lost.
This is called stealing. It is unlawful for a Muslim to take even a very small thing without the permission of its owner.
The Holy Quran has laid down very severe punishment for people who steal. If everybody followed the instructions of Holy Quran in this matter, there would be no stealing.
No one would then have the fear of his things being stolen or robbed. At school or at home or anywhere if you find something that does not belong to you, do not keep it but give it to an elder or your teacher.

Backbiting

Backbiting is to speak ill of people when they are not present. Islam commands us not to hurt people’s feelings by passing unkind remarks about them when they are present.
It is much worse when we talk ill of them when they are not present. The Quran says that a person who backbites is like one who has eaten the flesh of his dead brother. No one can even think of eating human flesh, let alone the flesh of a dead brother. A good Muslim therefore does not backbite.

Slander

Slander is to utter or spread a false statement which is harmful to another’s character or reputation. The Quran strictly forbids slander because it spreads misunderstanding and hatred and breaks relations between people.
The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said:
“Allah will not forgive the slanderer until the one he has slandered has forgiven him.” (Mishkat)
And again:
“The worst slaves of Allah are those who slander, separate friends and distress others.” (Ahmad)
He also said: “Slander is to say something about your brother that he would dislike. It what you say about him is false, you have slandered him and if it is true you have called him bad names.” (Muslim)

How to Talk

There are many people who keep on talking, never giving others a chance to speak. This is a very bad habit. A Muslim speaks only when necessary; otherwise, he keeps quiet. The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or keep silent.” The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam never talked too much. Whatever he said was brief but enough to make his meaning clear to people. It is also bad manners to interrupt people when they are talking unless it is very necessary to do so. It is better to wait till they finish what they want to say.
